All About The Camp
Open to youth ages 12-16, the annual Wisconsin TU Youth Camp helps kids develop the necessary skills for fresh water trout fishing and other species using conventional tackle and/or fly rods and reels. With an emphasis on fishing safety, ethics and sportsmanship, and conservation, the camp serves to directly uphold the organization’s mission to conserve, protect and restore North America’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds so future generations of children can enjoy healthy fisheries in their home waters.
Every year Fox Valley Trout Unlimited sponsors a camper. Interested campers fill out an application form and our Board reads each application and selects one of the youth. FVTU will pay the $250 to sponsor a camper which includes all lodging, meals, materials (handouts, flies, lures and bait) and the use of camp rods, reels and waders if needed.
Each camper is expected to bring suitable clothing including a hat, jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent and personal hygiene products. A liability release will be provided and must be signed by a parent or guardian. It would also be helpful, but not required, to bring a pair of waders and their own fishing gear.
How To Apply
This year’s camp will be held at the Pine Lake Camp about 9 miles from Waupaca, WI from August 14th to 17th. The application form, a brochure (2024 brochure), and additional information can be found at the links below. The camp is open to both boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 16.
